Your reviews of Vertigo
Great Overview! Excellent food in the restaurant part and best service I've had.
I'm so gutted we missed this bar. My boyfriend and I have only just come back from Bangkok and I would have loved to have gone to this! Can anyone tell me whereabouts it is - i.e. on the skytrain etc..
This is the most amazing roof top bar I have ever been to. I got tingles looking out across Bangkok. Its so silent that high up, you feel on top of the world. Going back this April. Don't listen to the bad reviews!
Wound up here at the end of a typical evening mooching around in Bangkok, what can I say, the venue is quite mind blowing, great views of an amazing city fused with an ambience to suit. Ok, the drinks weren't Chinatown street restaurant prices but let's be honest, you're not going to be here every night!
Overrated pretentious bar. Sure, it's open air at the top of the Banyan Tree but it's crammed into the corner of the roof. We were ignored on arrival, then shepherded into a gap between a footstool and the bar and expected to prop ourselves up on the stack of menus. Very disappointing.
Fantastic, the coolest bar around. Plus, the best singapore sling ever had.
A fantastic view and very tasty cocktails. Friendly staff and good service. A nice spot after a tiring day in the crowded streets of Bangkok.
Best view in the world
What a view!
I head a great drink here. Staff were not amazing but it's got a great view and there aren't that many great rooftop bars in cities such as this in the world. For the poor reviews I say, relax, have a drink and enjoy the atmosphere!
The design was okay given the limited space. I tried the sample menu, the food was so-so, however I'm a cuisine chef. I visit the place for the view and I must admit it doesn't disappoint me, there is no comparison.
I was there just a couple of weeks ago. The view was very good and the food was good.
i've been there twice and i don't think they got good service
Great location but lousy drinks, very 1990.
OMG this place is awesome, you do have to bed dressed up to get in, but they provide you with something if you are not dressed quite to their requirements, even if it is a little out of date and not to your own personal standards! Views are out of this world, be sure to get here early if you want a good seat! Recommend, Recommend, Recommend!
The best view and feeling in the world. Eating with the Gods.
so beautifull ! lovely view !
Great view, but that's it.
Booked a room with dinner at the rooftop because I had a stopover in Bangkok. one of the best views I have ever seen. The weather was perfect so I was lucky. Food isn't first class but it was very nice. I was lucky because my suite was situated on the 57th floor so had a great view from the room. If you visit Bangkok go to Vertigo
Maybe the worlds best rooftop bar and restaurant. Superbly intimate yet cosmopolitan atmosphere, excelent staff and good drinks. Unfortunatley the food is not on par with the rest of the place, or with the price. You really don't get what you pay for.
It's a must go place when in Bangkok... but a tad expensive particularly on the wine menu.
Just had one of my best evenings there. Everything were smooth and chilled.
Great night, great food, great view, great drinks, great company 10 outta 10
I have been here once, just to compare it with the other skybar 'Sirocco'. Based on this I can really say that Sirocco is way better. The ambiance is much nicer with the live jazz band that is playing one level above the bar. If you have to choose: Go to Sirocco!
Forgot I had been to this Bar and Restaurant - the steak was perfect!!
Just perfect. The view, the cocktails, everything!
Great meals, great service, best atmosphere.
We were in Bangkok for three nights and visited the Moon Bar for a cocktail, an amazing view and was just one of many highlights of a great holiday in Thailand. Well worth hunting out.
I visited the restaurant on the 54th floor followed by drinks in vertigo afterwards. I visited on my last night in Bangkok after three months of budget backpacking so it was a real treat! They do have a dress code which seemed very alien after living in my flip flops but a cheap trip to the MBK centre sorted that out. The meal was pricy especially for Thailand but well worth it! The meal came to about £80 for two of which was for four dishes and a cocktail each. The mojitos were amazing and the decor was superb. The staff were extremely friendly and the ambience was tranquil. It was amazing to be towering above busy bangkok without being among the hustle and bustle. The food was really lovely and the setting was so beautiful. The bar area was really trendy. Nice comfy sofas and chilled tunes so very relaxing. I visited at the end of march so the weather was perfect. So glad I visited I wouldn't recommend visting bangkok witout a night out there! Do it!
We took a chance and booked to eat even though it was rainy season. Managed to get two courses outside which were amazing!! Service was great and getting everyone inside when it did start to rain was done effortlessly! It is pricey but well worth the experience. Pure indulgence!
The view is just amazing (a bit windy maybe) but in my opinion Vertigo is a 'must see'. It gives you a bit an idea how big this city really is and you start feeling pretty small. Drinks are good, though with the food they try a little bit too hard maybe, service is good, prices tend to go up a little over the years but that is what happens all over Asia lately.
I have been to Vertigo at least yearly for the last three years and it is always a highlight in dining and ambiance. The food and drinks are excellent, and you can not beat the position and view. one of my favourite places in the world. I look forward to going back many times.
Four of us dined and all agreed the food was excellent. The braised ribs just melted in the mouth. I had the pork parmigiana and it was much the same. Tried a bottle of Italian wine which stripped the enamel off our collective choppers, but soon forgot the 'keroseni' and enjoyed the amazing experience of rooftop city-gazing. Just go. It is a truly amazing experience.
The view from this rooftop restaurant just took my breath away. Wonderful place - and food was excellent as well as the wine (that cannot be taken for granted in Bangkok). A bit pricy but was worth it. With the menu a small flashlight was given so it was manageable to read it, most likely I could have read it without the light as well but that small detail added a small flavour to the atmosphere in the restaurant - at least when we were eating it was not too dark to see what you were eating so did not have the experience that some others were writing about. I really recommend this restaurant - especially for those who are looking for a romantic place to have dinner with someone special.
The food at the Vertigo Restaurant is awful to say the least. Disregarding the price, the food is very, very poor. If you go here get one course and a drink to experience the fantastic views. I had read reviews but did not quite believe them that the food was poor; I do now and I wasted quite a bit of money because I got a banquet. It was a rip off; the price is higher than what the items cost individually and I did not realise until later. I did not expect to have to add up the items individually in what should be a good restaurant. Please listen to reviews and do not waste your money!
An unforgettable place to get a drink. View is spectacular. Between this and the State Tower, Bangkok has two of the best outdoor 'view' bars in the world.
Love this place! Even the way their drinks are served is quite impressive. I remember enjoying a cocktail in one of their quirky glasses that give the illusion that it's leaning. If I ever find myself in Bangkok again, I'd definitely come back.
I stayed at the Banyan Tree hotel for a few days to chill out and relax, so had to visit the Vertigo Bar and restaurant which I had read much about. Unfortunately I went alone, but met someone and that lady is now with me and we both intend to go back together soon. Great atmostphere, delightful food and what a view - a truely life changing venue.
We had evening drinks here while watching the sunset on 26th Feb. It is a great place to start the evening off. There is no roof and it can get breezy, but don't that put you off from a visit.
A great place to visit while in Bangkok. Loved this place so much. I will go there AGAIN during my next visit to Bangkok.
Loved this place, though I would reccomend you only drink here, as the food was poor and very expensive - I would eat elsewhere then go up the lift for the fab view and ambience (your ears pop in the lift - it goes up that fast!)
Has to be the best bar in the world.
We ate here on Christmas Eve, we arrived for sunset and were still there many hours later drinking and eating. This is a fantastic place, the ambience is brilliant and the view is amazing. We were lucky that we had perfect weather. Service, food and experience were worth the money I would definitely recommend this experience.
We went for dinner and it was a disappointment. The menu is very boring and the food is served cold, as their kitchen is on a lower floor, and by the time they bring the food to the table, considering that we are sitting on the terrace of the 60th floor of a building with a strong breeze, the food obviously is not served piping hot. It is not worth the price. Almost $65-70 per head without drinks. I feel the Sirocco at the State Tower is a better bet.
Vertigo is an extrememly great place - spent my biirthday there!
Have been to both Vertigo and Sirocco several times. Vertigo is cool because it is so small, you really feel the "I'm on top of a building" aspect to it. Sirocco is more formal, bigger, and you can stay away from "the edge" more - and it does have better food! We like them both, if you have the time and $$$, try them both. If you don't, choose Sirocco for the experience and better food - and Vertigo for the much cooler ambiance and real unique feeling you get when you REALLY feel like you are perched on the top of a building.
I've been to the best restaurants and bars in the world. Vertigo tops my list! Conde Nast couldnt be off in awarding Vertigo twice. Unique design (formerly a chopper landing pad) and elegant sophistication. Excellent staff and cuisine. My favorite place in the world!
I took the most beautiful woman in the world here to dinner on the 21st September 2007 we both enjoyed the evening very much! The whole experience was excellent and I will treasure the photograph that the restaurant took forever. The food and service was outstanding this was the best evening ever. Thank you Virtigo! We will be back!
Fantastic. What else can you say when the food, drink, service and the atmosphere are superb. You must visit when in Bangkok!
Great bar and awesome view. Drinks are (especially for Thailand) expensive but its definitely a must go when you're in BK.
Amazing views and a million miles away from the bustle on the street below. Great service and drinks, however a little over priced. Visit here just for the views, I will go again!
Best bar and view in the world with the friendliest locals.
After a hard day's touring, this was a wonderful place to come and chill out. The warm balmy air, a cold drink, great company and the view across the sprawling city at dusk. Quite incredible.
My overall rating is higher than the component parts because the ambience of this bar was second to none. I note the preamble's comments about no cover for when the rains come (and come they do in Bangkok) but we were sheperded to a beautiful restaurant/bar area a floor or two down whilst the rain threatened - and back to the bar once it had passed. Yes - Vertigo is not for those with Vertigo - but it's cheaper and more conducive to relaxing than its main competitor in the Bangkok roof-top bar stakes, the pretentious Sirocco.
Had a few cocktails here one night in February 2007. The service was great, the drinks were great. The prices were about £7-£8 a cocktail - same as London really. The view was amazing. I was backpacking so it was nice to live the high life for a couple of hours - quite literally!
A nice place to go for a relaxing cocktail. I felt a little unsafe, because the lighting is so dim that you really have to watch your step and the lack of a really sturdy rail around the roof made me a little nervous. I wouldn't eat there because it's so dark, you can't see what you are eating! But overall a nice ambience to chill out.
Excellent place to impress, took my wife there for our first anniversary. More of a place to eat, but with fantastic views. Definitely recommend it.
Sirocco is in the James Bond "Look at ME!!" class - especially slinking downs those illuminated steps underneath the golden dome - whereas Vertigo has quieter sexy sophistication, and being dimly lit you really soar above the skyline (there is nothing higher than you) - sitting at the bar using a torch trying to decide which cocktail to have next........One tip don't sit on the wooden walkway just below the bar.
Vertigo was the best until Sirocco opened. Obviously Sirocco provides a better view from Sky Bar. I would say I love them both but Sirocco is getting a bit advantage by the quality of service. My recommendation? Try both!
What a fabulous place! Really chic and cool, yummy mojitos, good service and exceptional ambiance, with amazing views and the occasional shooting star. The only disappointment was that it closed at midnight! Such a shame we don't have a place like it (or the climate for it) in London! Will definitely return next time I'm in Bangkok.
Cocktails at Vertigo are honestly a joke, the place has an ok view but the nasty deep frying oil fumes from the kitchen and the uncomfortable seats spoil this place. For a better experience of Bangkok see Distil in Sirocco or Syn bar in Raffles.
Great view, on the romantic side but a great start to the night with anyone! the view is amazing and will set a smile on your face for the night.
Farangstar must be working for Vertigo as Sirocco is the best place I have been to not just in Bangkok but in the world and anyone who doesn't go there would have seriously missed out. I found vertigo was OK but didn't compare to SIROCCO.
Actually, slawait is wrong - the views are way better here than at Sirocco. Sirocco is for ageing tourists and wannabe hipsters. Moon Bar is the only choice for breathtaking romance.
If you love somewhere special, if you love somewhere cool, if you love wonderful cocktails and if you are not afraid of heights, you shouldn't miss drinking here at Vertigo.
the full night was amazing. i stayed with my boyfriend last year at the banyan tree hotel so spent a few nights up in vertigo and moon bar. What an experience. The atmosphere was great, the food was amazing and moon bar did some pretty good cocktails. and if that wasn't enough the views were out this would. Not however recommended if afraid of heights!
i like Vertigo but you must try Sirroco "Sky Bar" then you'll know what is like to experience 360 panoramic view over BKK.
If you find yourself with a night to spend in Bangkok, this bar is an absolute must. The service is first class, there is a dress code (no shorts or sandals) but the staff will happily provide you with trousers and shoes if you turn up without!
The view and the atmosphere in this bar has to be seen to be believed, the cocktails are very nice, if a little pricey, but its worth it, especially if you go to watch the sunset. An oasis of tranquility in a crazy city.
Really nice place to have a great view over Bangkok!!! But try the Sirocco restaurant, because this is the world's highest restaurant and bar. The design and view over the city is amazing and gigantic especially if you enjoy this view while holding a girl in your arms! Best bar I have ever been to so far! Fantastic.
A must in BKK...the views alone are worth it...
Truly one of the best bars in the world! This blows your mind, go at sunset!
This place is a must to visit when you're in Bangkok. The views from the top of the hotel is truly spectacular. Cocktails/drinks are great, but food was very disappointing.
