Chiangmai's Fresh Markets

KAMTHIENG FARMERS MARKET , (Superhighway opposite Lanna Hospital, Map 1). All types of fresh produce, large flower and orchid market plus all types of handmade products from 17 northern provinces are on display. Lowest prices because farmers sell direct. Economical and tasty freshly made food also available.

 

WAROWOT MARKET (corner of Changmoi & Witchayanon Roads, Map 2A) Chiangmai's bustling largest central market. Frenetic and colorful at any time of the day. Almost everything available in the market as well as in the main shops clustered around. Stalls on the second floor sell clothing, shoes and hill tribe articles at very reasonable prices. Note: the tempermental escalator often refuses to operate.

 

GALARE FOOD & SHOPPING BAZAAR (eastern side of Changklan Road, in Night Bazaar area. Map 2B). From 10 am until midnight sit in a spacious beer garden and enjoy vegetarian, Asian, Thai, western food including a Capuccino bistro. Well stocked shopping arcade with goods at affordable prices. See Traditional dancing at 21.00-22.30 hrs. Nearby Thai boxing and Cabaret lip synch shows.

 

ANUSARN MARKET (In Not really a market , but a glutton's delight along an entire lane of open-air restaurants and food stalls. All types of Thai & Chinese dishes as well as seafood specialities at very reasonable prices. Popular with locals and visitors alike.

 

SANPAKHOY MARKET (Charoenmuang Road, Map 2A) Produce, meats, seafood as well as prepared foods available at this day market. Good place to shop for household and plastic items. Avoid the busiest time at evening rush hour.

 

SOMPET MARKET (Moonmuang Road , Map 3A) Excellent quality fresh produce, fruits, very colorful flower stalls. Good prepared foods, especially northern-style dishes. Within walking distance on Moonmuang Road are many fruit stalls. Excellent place to buy seasonal fruits-vendors will give you a sample for tasting.

 

PRATU CHIANGMAI MARKET (At Chiangmai Gate on Bamroongburi Road, Map 3A). A busy neighborhood market. Most items are available and in particular is food freshly prepared both inside the market and in street stalls. There's a grassy area where children play takraw and kickball after school.

 

TOHN PAYORM MARKET (Suthep Road, Map 1) A large market where almost everything can be found - -especially fruit and fresh vegetables. Prices tend to be a bit lower as it is a farmer's market selling direct to homemakers.

 

THANIN MARKET (Chotana Road, Map 1) A small local market where the majority of stalls sell simple wood furniture (tables, stools, bedsteads, desks, etc.) very inexpensive prices.

 

FLOWER Market (Mahidol Rd, opposite Old Cultural Center, Map 1) All types of flowering and decorative plants and potted trees for sale along with fertilizers and gardening necessities.

 

BUAK HAAD Market (Arrak Road, Map 1) This is where to buy tropical fish, aquariums, fish food and necessities. Take a rest at the landscaped city park located here.
