 ★“약을 먹다,혹은 복용하다”는 take 를 쓴다.
Take these pills after meal (식사후에 이 알약들을 복용 하세요.)

 

★ “~가 아프다” 고 말할때는 have 를 주로 쓴다.
I have pain in my shoulder. (어깨가 아파요)
I have chills. (오한이 나요)

 

★ "~가 아프세요?"라고 물어볼 때도 have를 주로 쓴다.
Do you have a cold(감기에 걸렸어요?)
Do you have any pain(어디가 아프세요?)
Do you feel chilly(한기를 느끼세요?)
대답은 물론 Yes I have. 혹은 No I haven't식으로 하면된다.

 

★ Catch (get) a cold는 
 “감기들다/걸리다”를 말하는 상태의 변화를 이야기 하는 것이고,
  have a cold는 “감기가 걸려있다”는 상태를 말하는 표현이다.

 

★ “의사에게 진찰받다”는 뜻의 영어는 See a doctor 이다.

 ~ have a checkup 도 좋다.  

 

★ make an appointment 는 “예약을 하다” 

    have an appointment 는 "예약을 해놓은 상태“를 의미한다.

 

★ prescription은 처방전이라는 뜻인데
의사가 처방한 약(medicine which a doctor orders for you) 이라는 뜻도 있다.
그러니까 take this prescription은 “이 처방약을 먹으라”는 뜻이다.

 

★ 체온을 얘기 할때 우리나라는 “섭씨(Centigrade)”를 사용하지만 
   외국에서는 “화씨(Fahrenheit)"를사용한다.
    I have a temperature of 40 degree.

 

★ 병실을 한바퀴 돌아보자 는 Let's make a round of the ward 이다.

 

★ 중환자는 Intensive care Patient로 가능하지만 문어적인 표현이며,
   회화에서 중환자는 Patient who is serious case
   혹은 Patient on the danger list 이다.

 

★ 입원료 : Hospital expenses 
   입원수속 : hospital admission procedures.

 

★ 입원환자 : inpatient, 장기입원환자 : long-stay patient.

 

★ 의료보험 : medical insurance.
   의료보험 혜택 : medical insurance benefits.
   의료보험 혜택자 : beneficiaries of medical insurance.
   의료보험조합 : medical insurance union.

 

★ 의사를 Doctor 혹은 Physician이라고 하며

   속어로 Doc. 이라고 줄여쓰기도 한다.
   주로 내과의사를 Physician, 외과의사를 surgeon 이라고 한다.
   내과 외과 일반을 담당하는 GP General Practitioner 의 약자이다.

원무과 접수 에서의 영어회화

Foreigner : How much is the charge for this exam? (이 검사는 얼마입니까?)
Receptionist : Do you have medical coverage? (보험에 들어있습니까?)
Foreigner : Yes i have. (예 들어있습니다.)
Receptionist : Then, there is only a small charge. (그렇다면, 얼마 안됩니다.)
Foreigner : OK, I see. (알겠습니다.)
Receptionist : What's your name? (성함은 요?)
Foreigner : Brain burns
Receptionist :How do you spell your name please? ( 스펠이 어떻게 됩니까?)
Foreigner : B-R-A.....
Receptionist : Now let me repeat it to see if I've got it.
                          ( 제가 정확하게 했는지 확인 하겠습니다 B-R-A...)
Foreigner : You've got it. ( 맞습니다.)

주사실 에서의 영어회화
Nurse : Have a seat here. (여기에 앉으세요)
Nurse : Would you roll up your left arm sleeves.
                       (왼쪽팔 소매를 걷어 주시겠습니까?)
Nurse : During the injection, you may feel little pain and hot.
                       (주사 맞는동안, 약간 아프고 열이 날수도 있습니다.)
Nurse : O.K.
Nurse : Don't rub there, just push down for a minute.
                        (거기를 문지르지 마세요, 그냥 1분간 누르세요)
Foreigner : Thank you. (감사합니다.)
Nurse : Your welcome. (천만에요.)

 

신체 증상 표현

-머리

어지러워요. I feel dizzy.

머리가 아프다. I have a headache.

편두통이 있다. I have a migraine.

얼굴이 부었다. I have a puffy face.

- 귀

귀가 심하게 아프다.  I have an earache.

귀에서 물이 나온다. My ear is running.

나의 귀에서 고름이 나온다. Pus is comming out of my ear.

귀에 염증이 있다. I have an ear infection.

씹을 때 아프다. It hurts when I chew.

귀가 따끔거린다. My ear tingles.

귀가 울린다. My ears ring.

귀가 갑자기 윙윙거리는 소리가 난다. My ears have suddenly started to hum.

물이 귀에 들어갔다. Water got into my ears.

-심장계통

눌러오는 듯 아프다. The pain feels heavy, crushing.
밤에 자다가 숨이 차서 일어난다. I wake up short of breath at night middle of the sleep.
침대에 드러누우면 숨이 차진다.  I get short of breath when I lie down on the bed.
조금 힘든 일을 하면 숨이 차진다. I get short of breath when I do a little hard work.
어지럽다. I feel dizzy / Light-headed / feel like fainting.
드러누웠다가 일어나면 어지럽다. I get dizzy when I stand up from lying down.
기절을 했다. I passed out. / I lost consciousness.
손, 발이 따끔 따끔하다. I have pins and needles in my fingers / toes.
팔과 다리에 감각이 없어졌다. I feel numb in my arms and legs.
피곤이 쉽게 온다. I get tired easily.

 

-피부질환

피부가 가렵다. My skin feels itchy.
피부가 건성/지성이다. My skin is dry/ oily.
머리가 빠진다. My hair keeps falling out.
피부에 화상을 입었다. I had burns to my skin.
입술이 부르텄다. I have blisters on my lips

.

-호흡계통

가래가 섞인 기침을 한다. I cough up phlegm.
피가 섞인 기침을 한다. I cough up blood.
가슴이 아프다. I have chest pain.
숨을 들이킬 때 더 심하다. The pain is worse on breathing in.
목소리가 쉬었다. My voice is hoarse / croaky.
목이 부었다/ 목이 아프다. I have swollen throat / sore throat.

 

-소화기 계통

장염인것 같다. I think it is enteritis.
식욕이 없다. I lost appetite. I don’t feel like eating.
몸무게가 줄었다. I lost weight.
입맛은 좋은데 살이 자꾸 빠진다. I am losing weight despite of good appetite.
트림을 한다. I burp.
입에 신맛을 느낄 수 있다. I have sour taste in my mouth.
배가 아프다. I have pain in my stomach. I have a stomachache.
소화제를 먹어도 낫지를 않는다. Digestives do not relieve it.
배가 더부룩하게 부은 것 같다. My stomach feels bloated/ full.
배에 단단한 덩어리가 만져진다. I can feel a hard lump in my stomach.
몸에 부기가 있다. My body is swollen.
황달기가 있다. I have jaundice. My skin/ eyes have turned yellow.

음식을 토했다. I vomitted the food I had,
토할 것 같다/ 구토증이 있다. I feel nauseous / like throwing up.
피를 토했다. I vomited blood. There was blood in my vomit.
단단한 음식을 삼키기가 힘들다. I find it difficult to swallow solid food.
음식이 목에 걸렸다. The food is stuck in my throat.
설사를 했다. I have diarrhea.
음식이 체했다. I have indigestion.
변이 묽어 졌다. I have loose/ watery bowel movements
변비가 있다( 변이 단단해 졌다) I am constipated( I have hard bowel movements).
설사와 변비가 번갈아 있다. I have diarrhea and constipation alternately.
치질이 있다. I have hemorrhoids.

명치끝이 아프다. It hurts right below my sternum. 

명치가 아프다. My sternum is painful.

-혈액계통

멍이 쉽게 든다. I bruise easily. My skin becomes blue easily.
코피를 자주 흘린다. I bleed often from my nose.
임파선이 커졌다. My lymphatic glands are enlarged.
수혈을 받은 적이 있다. I have received blood transfusion in the past.
헌혈을 하고 싶다. I want to give/ donate my blood.
내 혈액형은 * 형이다. My blood type is *.

 

-비뇨계통

소변이 자주 마렵다. I pee often./ urinate often.
소변을 보는데 따갑게 아프다. I have burning pain while I urinate.
생리양이 많아졌다/ 적어졌다. My period is heavier/ lighter (in volume).
생리통이 심하다. I have severe menstrual/ period pain.
생리를 자주 거른다. I skip my periods often.
냉이 있다. I have vaginal discharge.
피임약을 사용하고 있다. I am using contraceptive pills.
피임도구를 사용하고 있다. I am using contraceptive devices.

의사,간호사가 환자에게 요청하기
1. 상의를 벗어 주세요. -> Take off all of your top clothes.
2. 속옷도 벗어 주세요. -> Take off your underwear, too.
3. 옷을 이 바구니 안에 넣어 주세요. -> Put your clothes in this basket.
4. 이 진찰 옷으로 입어 주세요. -> Put on this examination wear.
5. 셔츠만 제외하고 웃옷을 벗어주시겠습니까?
-> Could you please take off your upper cloth except shirt?
6. 소매를 걷어 올려주시겠습니까? -> Would you please roll up your sleeves?
7. 바지를 무릎까지 걷어 올려주시겠습니까?
-> Would you please pull up your pants to the knees?
8. 안경을 벗어주시겠습니까? -> Please take off your glasses.
9. 시계, 악세사리도 벗어 주세요. -> Take off your watch and jewelries too.

건강 상태 말하기
1. I'm in very good health./I'm in the pink of the health.

저는 건강 상태가 아주 좋아요.
2. I'm in a fairly good shape./My health is quite good.
   저는 건강 상태가 좋은 편이예요.
3. I'm in the best condition. 컨디션이 최상이에요.
4.I don't feel very well. 몸 컨디션이 별로 좋지 않아요.
5. I've never had any trouble with my health. 저는 아파 본 적이 없어요.
6. I'm in bad health / My health is not so good. 저는 건강이 안좋아요.
7. I'm not feeling well / Something must be wrong with me.
   기분이 별로 좋지 않아요./몸에 이상이 있는 것 같아요.
8. I'm tired out. / I'm worn out. 녹초가 됐어요.
